Jazz Is Dead hit the road again as a headliner on some of their own gigs, as well as support for some dates on Billy Cobham's Spectrum Tour in early April. JID also was on board for part of the Beatlejam Tour in late March with Vince Welnick and Blue Floyd. Originally booked as a trio, Jeff suggested bringing in his dear friend Wally Usiatynski to play percussion with the ensemble opening up for Cobham dates in NYC. JID Touring and other updates can be found at the tours and gigs page.

In early March Jeff was in Japan performingw/ Robbie Dupree and band at the Fujikyu Highland Mountain Resort, located at the base of historic Mt Fuji. Monster bassist Tony Levin (King Crimson/Peter Gabriel) was along for the gig, as well. (Jeff and Tony recorded together along w/ famed drummer Steve Gadd on Robbie's Japanese Polystar '97 release "Smoke and Mirrors" on Polydor Records.) The Highland Mtn Resort boasts the largest roller-coaster known to mankind and Jeff took advantage of this world attraction.... but not without a mysterious loss of his vocal chords for a number of days following the trip...Some Japanese tourists were confused when they overheard a grown American man screaming out at the tops of his lungs in English while he was nearing the top of the coaster..."Ya know, this wasn't a very good a idea...Hello?!...Can you hear me???!! .....You can stop this NOW!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!! |
