CAST OF CLOWNS IN MAUI ~ MARCH 20th & 21st, 2009

Dear Friends,

A couple weeks ago while visiting my friend and master guitar technician/repairman, Steve Spaulding, I heard the news that Ashlands own village 7-string guitar maestro, Bil Leonhart, had a very unfortunate accident with his beloved, custom built, 7 string guitar "The Higgins" and it was in need of an expensive repair to get it back to playing condition again. As the adoration and appreciation of this brilliant musician and fine gentleman is shared by many, Steve and I discussed the idea of assembling musicians and music appreciators to offer a night of Guitar music to cover the cost of the return of "The Higgins" to it's rightful place, in Bil's amazing hands, in appreciation for the gift that his talents and fine art brings to our community.

Myself along with guitarists, Joe Diehl and Cyd Smith are humbly donating our time and effort to the cause. I ask all of you to please come join us on Sunday March 1st at the Pioneer Hall at 7:30 pm to enjoy, celebrate and pay tribute to the fine music offered in our community and to reaffirm the power and importance of joining together to celebrate the music that exsists right here, in our own back yard.

Peter Gallway is a songwriter and producer that Jeff has collaborated with for decades, working on various projects from Laura Nyro, to Cliff Eberhardt and Richie Havens and many others. Peter has released numerous records of his own and recently asked Jeff to co-produce his latest work "Freedom Is". Jeff says, "Peter is a wonderful songwriter and this is truly a wonderful record that I recommend highly". Jeff plays many instruments besides his usual array of guitars including fretless bass, keyboards, percussion and vocals on numerous tracks. More info is available on Peter's website. Once again Jeff takes to the road in late September with the small and mighty trio that supports the wonderously talented vocalist, Jennifer Warnes. Jeff's long time pal Steve Postel will be playing guitar on the tour, so Jeff offered to play bass, mandolin and lapsteel, along with Chris Caswell on keyboards. Tourdates include numerous soldout dates in Canada and will also include the McCabe 50th Anniversary Concert at UCLA's Royce Hall on Oct 2nd, 2008 along with Jackson Browne, Richard Thompson, David Lindley, Odetta and others. Jeff had his debut performance at the annual Oregon Country Fair this past summer with special guest Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead) sitting in with the band on drums. The Clowns play a number of shows in the greater San Francisco area the middle of September and other tourdates in Oct. See the tours and gigs page for more info.

Jeff was invited to join 2 legendary bands from the San Francisco music scene this past August. Jeff was playing lead guitar, mandolin and lapsteel w/ Jefferson Starship and played bass for the QSM sets. The tourdates included many stops in the UK including London, Edinburg; Scotland and one final date in New England. There have been inquiries to other gigs with the ensembles in the days to come so stay tuned.

Jeff was joined by his partner Inger Jorgensen (see www.myspace.com/bohemiansoulmusic.com) and "lipcussionist" Cornflower (see cornflowermusic.com) in a solo, duet and trio performance in support of a Kenny Loggins show in Redding CA at The Cascade Theatre on August 3rd. The opening set was awarded a standing ovation. Jeff has worked with Loggins live and in the studio in the past and was invited to sit in on slide guitar with Kenny and the band during Loggins show for "I'm Alright". Fun was had by all..

Jeff is teaming up with some talented friends from San Francisco and Oregon to do some gigs in Northern CA during the month of June and selected dates in Oregon during the month of July (including the Oregon Country Fair in Eugene). CoC also features Melvin Seals (JGB) on keys, Hutch Hutchinson (Bonnie Raitt) on bass, Greg Anton (Zero) on drums and Craig Wright (Horsefeathers) on vocals and 2nd guitar. The band performs mostly original music in a jamband format.

Jeff is doing some assorted gigs this summer with vocalist, Jennifer Warnes, playing bass, mandolin and lap steel. Jeff's longtime friend, Steve Postell (formerly of Little Blue) who has a new album coming out on Immergent records, is bandleading Jennifer's trio along with Chris Caswell on keys. The Naples Coalitions' third annual CASH FOR THE COAST benefit concert was held on March 21st, and featured Friends of the Naples Coalition with special guests Kenny Loggins (w/ Jeff Pevar), Karla Bonoff & Kenny Edwards, Glen Phillips, Jonathan McEuen, MoJoW and the Vibration Army, Rain Perry.
